I. Campus Life
In each apartment, there are almost all the facilities needed for daily life, including air-conditioning, a television, a washing machine, a water machine, a microwave oven and an electrical water heater, sofa, a dining table, necessary kitchenware, a set of beddings and a book table. Cable television interface and Internet are also available.
There are canteens in both campuses of the south and north in which foods of different kind are provided. They serve three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and supper.
With a dining card bought at the school Canteen Center with 20 RMB, you can consume in all canteens inside the school. If you lose your dining card, you should report the lost to the stuff of International Cooperation and Exchange Office immediately.
Many small restaurants serving local food are also available near by the school.
3. Medical Services
The school hospital located in the east campus is a specific attachment to the institute. Should you need to go to a bigger one, call us at any time.
After your arrival, we will help you to buy a mobile phone card (SIM card), which can be bought at China Unicom, China Mobile or China Telecom besides the school, and a new cell phone (if you don’t have one). You can make local and international calls via the phone, but it will be cheaper to use IP (Internet Phone Card) to call international number.
5. Safety Service
The public security is quite good in our school and in Ankang. However, we still suggest you shouldn’t treat everything lightly. You should keep well your money and passport. Don’t take too much money with you. Your passport is the only certificate to confirm you identity. Keep the windows closed, the water and electricity off when going out. You should obey the transportation rules and regulations and pay attention to the transportation safety.
In case the problems arise, you should call the policeman immediately. Meanwhile, report it to the International Cooperation and Exchange Office.

The first four numbers can be dialed on any public or private telephone freely.
There are lots of small supermarkets along the Yucai Road ( you need to go out from the front gate of AKU), in which you can buy some daily necessities. There is also a big supermarket called Vangard Supermarket 10-minute distance by bus away from the school.
In addition, if you want to buy some clothes or others, you can go to the following shopping center.

Min Wei shopping center (Take Bus Route 2)
All the above shopping centers are located in Jinzhou Road, and we suggest you going there with a Chinese companion.
At the bus stop in front of the gate of our school, there are the following buses: Bus Route 2, Bus Route 5, and Bus Route 13(back gate), which will pass through the stop every 15 to 20 minutes. Every day, the buses begin at 6:00 and end at 21:30.
In addition, you can take a taxi, which may be more convenient, though it may be a little bit expensive. The starting price of taxi here is RMB 5 Yuan.
Of course, it will also be a good idea to buy a second-hand bicycle.
IV. Money and Bank
In China, you can only use RMB, the unit of which is “yuan”. The fractional currency is “jiao” and “fen”. The currency value includes: 100 yuan, 50 yuan, 10 yuan, 5 yuan, 2 yuan, 1 yuan, 5 jiao, 2 jiao, 1 jiao, 5 fen, 2 fen, and 1 fen. The coins include: 1 yuan, 5 jiao, 1 jiao, 5 fen, 2 fen and 1 fen.
1 yuan = 10 jiao, 1 jiao = 10 fen
At present, Pound, HK Dollar, US Dollar, etc. can be exchanged into RMB. And seven kind of foreign currency Credit Card can be used to exchange RMB. They are: 1.American Express, 2. Master Card, 3. VISA, 4. Dinner's Club Card, 5. JCB, 6. Million Card, 7. Federal Card.
You can go to the Bank of China to exchange the currency. The customer’s service number of Bank of China is 95566 and its website is: http://www.boc.cn/index.html
There are banks like Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and China Construction Bank (CCB) next to the front gate of school, where you can deposit RMB in the ATM with your VISA card.
V. Post and Remittance
All your letters and package Remittance order will be sent to the International Cooperation and Exchange Office. Then we will inform you to fetch it, and tell you where to get the letters, packages and remittance. This may bring you some trouble, but it can assure that you will receive your letters and parcels.

VII. Travel in China
When traveling, you should take you passport and residence permit, and keep you valuable articles well. You can only choose the places that are open to foreigners. Any violation of it will bring you much trouble.
